Ever want to learn or just perfect the "Art of Quilting"? Then drive north on Ranch Rd 12 about 3 miles from the square in Wimberley, TX and turn at the yellow and black "Quilt Fabric" arrows nailed to a tree. There you'll find a quaint little shop that beams with country hospitality and all the supplies a quilter could need. It's packed with hundreds of bolts of premium-grade cotton fabric to batting, patterns, books, thread, and notions. Even the intangible necessities of quilting are available, from the motivating comaraderie of quilters who trade tips and quips, to the classes that can transform the sewing novice into a quilt-making dynamo.
Many local quilters consider this space a haven from the mundane distractions that prevent the lone quilter from completing a project. 'Cella offers a full range of classes, including quilting, sewing, and embroidery. There is no age limit for the classes -- just the desire to learn.
Other happenings at the shop are the monthly "Mini Retreats". It's a 2-3 day project where you sew as long as you want, go home, and then come back the next morning. Everyone seems to love this kind of retreat because the money that would have been spent on room-and-board can be spent on fabric instead. It's a fun time where we sew, laugh, eat, and dance to the "oldies". 'Cella's love for children even shows in her shop. During the summer, she holds "Creative Kidz Camp" where kids from the age of 8 and up can learn to use a sewing machine and make fun things like pillows, totes, and even a quilt. And 'Cella didn't forget about the husbands. She put together a quaint sitting area with comfortable chairs, a fireplace, and even "guy" magazines. So ladies, you can shop-til-you-drop without the "hubby" getting too ansy. The shop is open Monday thru Saturday 9am-5pm.
